KC CO. are from Kansas City and their Simple Wallet was featured recently here on minimalwallet.net. For our ‘meet the maker‘ series we contacted KC CO. to find out a bit more about them & their products.
Q. Briefly tell us about KC CO who you are and how you got started?
A. KC CO. is a company focused on making the highest quality goods we can make. We aim to make beautiful things of heirloom quality. Things people care about.
KC CO. was founded by Dominic Scalise and Austin Lyon. We both have many passions, including music, quality, and the outdoors.
We both have always enjoyed working with our hands, so leatherwork came pretty naturally. Austin picked it up first and started making some incredible things. He gave me some sage advice on how to get started, and I gave it a shot. After a while, we started working together on projects, and we were off to the races.
Q. What made you decide to make wallets?
A. We aim to make essentials, not superfluous things. Everyone needs a wallet. We felt we should take a stab at it. It had to be thin, clean, and able to stand the test of time. We were so excited when we came up with the simple wallet.
Q. Are you looking to add any other designs? What’s the future hold for KC CO?
A. Absolutely. We are constantly working on new products and will be adding many this year. I can’t see any additional wallets in the near future, as the Simple Wallet covers what we want out of a product. It’s clean, simple, sturdy, and doesn’t allow people too carry too much. It’s pretty easy to clear out the clutter when you’re forced to. We look forward to growing the company, adding more people, and adding bigger projects to the mix.
Q. Which famous person would you love to get an order from for one of your wallets? and why?
A. John Mayer. Not only is he a guitar god, he’s also an avid watch collector (watch people are all about the details). He clearly appreciates quality and the time and work that goes into something.
